The upcoming Edge of Fate expansion for Destiny 2 is set to launch on July 15, 2025, bringing a host of updates including significant modifications to Exotic weapons. As Bungie reveals exciting changes, players can look forward to an enhanced gaming experience within the new Fate saga.
In recent weeks, Bungie has teased various updates, first focusing on Exotic armor before shifting attention to the abilities within the game. This week, the spotlight turns to the modifications made to Exotic weapons, outlined in the latest This Week in Destiny blog post.
The following are the confirmed changes for Exotic weapons featured in Destiny 2: Edge of Fate:
Vigilance Wing:
The Last Stand bonus is now activated when players are solo in PvE activities.
Hierarchy of Needs:
Players will gain charges of Guidance Ring with each hit and can now deploy it with just three charges. The ring’s duration has been extended from 13 to 20 seconds and will now rotate to face its owner. Players may only have one Guidance Ring active at a time, and spawning a new one will remove the existing ring. Additionally, all Bows will now spawn missiles when fired through an allied player’s Guidance Ring. A glitch involving the seeker missiles not displaying detonation effects has been fixed.
Dead Man’s Tale:
Each stack of cranial spike now provides +3.4% damage against combatants (with a maximum of 17% at five stacks) and grants one round reloaded.
Duality:
The On Black Wings buff can now be triggered by landing a majority of pellets on a target.
The Navigator:
When equipped with Woven Mail, the weapon now offers increased damage of 25% in PvE and 5% in PvP, along with improved ammo generation.
Wicked Implement:
This weapon is now classified as a Rapid Fire RPM, needing one additional hit to begin slowing and freezing enemies, reflecting its faster rate of fire. The magazine size has been increased to 20 rounds and it is now intrinsically anti-Overload.
Heartshadow:
The weapon’s ammo reserves have been increased, and the cost of executing a heavy attack has been lowered from four to three. Additionally, defeating enemies while Shot in the Dark is active now grants invisibility once more.
Worldline Zero:
The heavy Tesseract attack’s lunge distance has increased by 3 meters, while the ability to chain two blink attacks consecutively has been removed. A new effect has been added; defeating a target with Tesseract allows players to use it again for a short duration, costing less ammo and consuming less guard energy.
Devil’s Ruin:
The fire on release behavior has been eliminated. The beam is now activated upon special reload. Eliminations with the weapon generate firesprites, and collecting these enables the special reload. The beam now scorches on hit and ignites upon kills, while the magazine size has increased to 20. It is also intrinsically anti-unstoppable.
Tommy’s Matchbook:
A burning screen effect has been added while players take self-damage from Ignition Trigger. Other players taking self-damage from Ignition Trigger will also display a burning effect. The HUD buff appears as a charging bar, remaining active as long as some charge is retained. The Heat Sink has been balanced, reducing hip-fire self-damage to 50% less than ADS self-damage.
Winterbite:
Enhanced melee damage with ammo has been reduced to +20% against bosses, down from +50%, and the weapon is now intrinsically anti-Overload.
In addition to specific details about the Exotic weapons, Bungie is incorporating intrinsic anti-champion mods into several of them:
– Anti-Unstoppable: Queensbreaker, Salvation’s Grip, Dragon’s Breath.
– Anti-Overload: Tractor Cannon, DARCI, Two-Tailed Fox.
Conditional Finality can function as either anti-Overload or anti-Unstoppable, depending on the active element.
Moreover, updates are also on the way for weapon archetypes and perks. Machine Guns will now feature a staged reload system, and Glaives will see a reduction in projectile tracking strength at close range. Various perks are getting adjustments, including Reconstruction, Paracausal Affinity, and One-Two Punch, which now applies to all melee abilities.
Bungie’s updates indicate a continued commitment to refining gameplay as the Edge of Fate expansion approaches, and players are encouraged to start planning their loadouts for launch day.
