Orlando Bloom has candidly addressed feelings of “loneliness” and “sadness” in the wake of his split from fiancée Katy Perry. The actor, known for his role in “Pirates of the Caribbean,” shared a series of quotations from renowned Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday.
One of the quotes stated, “Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate that which seems important to oneself,” originally shared by the account @SAPIENKIND. Another quote he reposted read, “Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.”
These reflections came shortly after reports revealed that Bloom and Perry had ended their relationship after nearly a decade together. A source close to the former couple told Us Weekly that they “have split but are amicable.” The insider noted, “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
The same source indicated that the couple’s relationship had faced significant tension for months, suggesting that the breakup had been anticipated for some time. The Daily Mail reported that a major disagreement had arisen regarding Perry’s “ridiculous” Blue Origin space flight, which Bloom had reportedly opposed.
Just a day after the breakup was made public, the 48-year-old actor traveled to Venice, Italy, to participate in the extravagant $50 million wedding festivities of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Photographs from the event show Bloom interacting with other celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Tom Brady, on June 26, as they were in the City of Canals.
Perry, 40, was unable to attend the wedding, as she was on tour in Australia. Bloom and Perry began their romance in 2016, briefly broke up in March 2017, but later rekindled their relationship in early 2018. They got engaged in February 2019 and share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, born in August 2020.
